while it’s been a little quiet here at quinnep.com, i have been doing some doodling outside of the monthly calendar. i’ve been crazy busy – moving out of DC & in w/ the family band (yay!), CrossFitting by butt off (or on, depending on how you look at increased strength…), & preparing for the annual pilgrimage across the Midwest.

things have been going wonderfully, and one of the highlights was being able to design a baby announcement for my cousin lauren! little ryker is too cute for words – and lauren wanted a baby announcement to match.

the card was printed on a semi-gloss stock at 5×7 – i LOVE the way they turned out, and i’m hopeful that i’ll get to create more of these!

i hope all of you had an absolutely spectacular new year! though i struggled to stay awake, i was thrilled to be able to spend the evening with my parents, jeremiah, the kids & of course, mr. hobbes, the family dog. i’m hoping 2010 brings some exciting new clients, adventures & friends.

i am very excited to share with you my latest doodle – my very awesome cousin spencer! :)

spenc is a snowboarding, dj-ing, fun-loving, all around excellent dude & when his mom, my aunt, asked me to doodle him up a birthday present, i knew it would come out great. he’s always wearing a smile & his 2 doggies are just the cutest!

my aunt & uncle own The Boardroom, a really fantastic snowboard shop in Ellicottville, NY where my mom and her 9 younger sisters & brothers (ooy!) grew up. The Boardroom is totally THE place to go if you need boarding equipment or have questions about the sport. they have a very excellent site you should check out at www.boardsandpowder.com.

one of my long-time DC pals is making a move across town & asked me to doodle her in her new neighborhood – Capitol Hill!

she’s now all set and ready to go – she attached the doodle as a PDF in a mass message to all of her pals & also has the option of having it printed into postcards! snazzy idea!

Kristi Odom of Photos by Kristi had quite an exciting wedding in Africa and asked me to doodle a couple doodles as a present for her husband, Paul. She had them printed to canvas, which I am dying to see.

It was a chanllenge drawing elephants and lions, but after a few tries, I think I got it! The colors from the photographs she sent were amazing, and makes me want to take a trip to Africa to actually see what Kristi was able to capture with her camera! Amazing!

This announcement was doodled for my sister’s pal Kelly. It was fun to use a doodle for a new idea! Yay!

Last Friday, my sister and brother-in-law ran into my favorite blondie – Jaime Windon – ya know, the blonde photographer. Anyway, Jeff, my brother-in-law SWEARS Jaime started talking about me and somewhere in the mix paused and said “She’s like my little fuzzy bunny!” After talking to my pal Kim, it was determined that regardless of whether or not she actually said it (I couldn’t be sure – especially coming from Jeff), it would have to be doodled. I am NOT the fuzzy bunny-type. The idea of being in a fuzzy bunny costume drives me to thoughts of heavy drinking. Anyway, this is the doodle I came up with. Jaime isn’t sure what she said, but she’s fairly certain it wasn’t that… Happy weekend!

in preparation for my week-long trip home to Michigan, i have doodled the typical weather forecast for the area. based an on a hilarious shirt my dad once had showing a weather map of the U.S. with all areas calling for “shitty” weather, this doodle pretty much sums up what I’m headed into when i get home…

My bestest cousin Sarah is getting married in May and I’ve designed her save the dates! They came out super cute and she’s really excited. She used lots of capital letters and exclamation points in her email. Like lots. Anyway, this is all very exciting! Sarah, I’m so happy for you! You and Nate are the best!
