i’m with family this week spending some time at the beach in south carolina…sitting in the sand staring at that vast expanse of water always makes me wonder what it must look like from below. this, i suppose, is my best guess…at least in my dreams. :)

sorry to have been away for a couple of months – new babies (not mine) and new houses (yes, mine!) have kept the doodle fam pretty busy, but we’re back and ready for an awesome spring! we’re prepping for a new veggie garden, enjoying our new huge lawn and the screened-in porch. enjoy the sunshine!

october is the best month EVER. first, the weather gets cold. secondly, it’s my birthday month. plus, w/ halloween stuck in there, it’s hamburger costume month. i *love* my hamburger costume.

guess who’s getting married this month? ME. that’s who. did you get it right? great! you win the prize of a fancy desktop calendar for this month.

based off of our wedding reception invites, this design is our way of welcoming fall! jeremiah & i picked late september for the wedding because we both run a little hot. he calls me his “little heater,” and we thought cooler temperatures might keep things…drier. the first question we asked the wedding coordinator was “there’s a/c in here, right?!” we love the fall and its colors, but mostly, generally hate the summer heat. :) also, with family sprawled out along ny, ma, ia, oh, and mi, we thought it best not to get to close to winter or the wedding might be just the 2 of us.

here’s to a wonderful fall to you and yours, and here’s to the beginning of my life as a hankins. i can’t wait!

a big thanks to my soon-to-be father-in-law for the watermelon idea! i hope everyone is staying cool this summer! we’ve been having quite a heat wave her in maryland. i must admit, i’m a cold weather lover, so fall can hurry up and get here! in the meantime, enjoy some fine summertime beverages, fresh fruit and grilling!

just 7 months ago, alyssa was diagnosed with leukemia & has been kickin’ its butt ever since. a friend of mine asked me to come up with a logo for her Team shirts and i couldn’t wait to get started. her mom loves the little bald tough chicky, because that’s exactly what this little girl is! though i’ve not met alyssa, i can tell what a strong & tough kid she is. i think it is so amazing how brave kids can be when going through incredibly hard things – it definitely reminds me to keep and open mind & positive heart when things aren’t going right! i hope reading her story will do the same for you. www.caringbridge.org/visit/alyssaklebasko
