doodle del dia: what are you going to be for halloween?

September 4th, 2008

I have my ideas. I admit, some of my ideas are better than others. But, remember, the fun about Halloween is dressing up and being silly, so really, aren’t all ideas good ones?

Some of my favorite costumes I’ve seen over the years are of various rock stars from the past. I saw a Gene Simmons once that I thought maybe was the real thing, but then realized the person was a middle-aged woman. While inspiring, definitely not an original member of Kiss.

Anyway, I’m curious what everyone is considering for their Halloween attire.

doodle del dia: up with a twist of lyme

August 29th, 2008

As you might recall, at the end of June, I packed my bags and headed for Megan&Ron’s wedding on the Oregon Coast. Not only did Megan get a sparkly ring and a husband while we were there, she also got a tick - and Lyme Disease.

She asked me to doodle her lime-y, and this is what I came up with.

As I’m sure you’re concerned - she is going to be fine, it was caught early because she was very responsible and went to see her doctor.

In other news, it’s a long weekend. And that’s the bomb[dot]com.
Happy Friday!
Peeez.

this is a joke, right?

I’m not actually gonna comment on this. I’ll leave that to all of you. Sheeezus.

this ain’t no doodle. it’s spam.

August 21st, 2008

A few times a week, my friend MB and I trade spam subject lines from our Gmail to see who can top who. Today, I think I have a list that rivals and “best-yet’s” we’ve had:

  • Britney Spears is dating Princess Diana’s butler
  • Britney Spears will play a mutant in new movie
  • Britney Spears has Alzheimer’s
  • Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie are adopting Britney Spears
  • Britney Spears ditches music career, enters car racing
  • Angelina Jolie’s lips explode

And, the best EVER:

BRITNEY SPEARS NEW HAIR EXTENSIONS ARE LINDSAY LOHAN’S PUBES

I don’t think that we will EVER top that one. Not ever. Even though sometimes MB gets one’s that say “MB, you’re stupid”, I do believe this is better than even that. I couldn’t make this stuff up on my best day. Someone has a knack for the creative beyond anything I’ve ever seen or heard of.

Cheese and rice. Shut the front door.

doodle del dia: halloween is coming

August 21st, 2008

I love Halloween. I mean, I hate figuring out what I want to be, but when I figure it out, I love it. I think I’ll be doodling lots Halloweeny thingys in the coming 45 days or so. This just the first one. I was thinking Munsters meets the Addams Family.

I’m really into this burnt orange color lately, and I’ve been trying to work it into everything - web sites, wedding invites, save-the-dates, etc. Some people call it “puke orange”. I call it perfect.

doodle del dia: a happy little leaf

August 20th, 2008

My cousin Jackie is moving to Aspen soon and she asked me to doodle an Aspen leaf for her GoogleChat picture. This also fits into the tree theme I was discussing yesterday. How appropriate!

I think this guy is pretty cute. His name will be Oliver. :)

doodle del dia: trees

August 19th, 2008

I’ve been in the mood to doodle trees lately. I’m not really sure why. Perhaps it’s all this city living that has me craving nature, or maybe it’s just their shapes and how each and every one is so different. I suppose I’m lucky - DC has quite a nice amount of shrubbery. Shrubbery, but the way, is one of my favorite words. For all of its faults, at least no one can accuse DC of being a Concrete Jungle.

off i go!

August 7th, 2008

I’m headed home to my beloved Michigan today. Jaime, my one and only favorite roommate from our sophomore year at Michigan State and her fiance Drew, and myself are making a road trip across the states. Their bridal shower is on Saturday so I brought my cute new dress (i clearly look better in it cuz i eat and i don’t glow in the dark, except in the winter months) and my favorite new shoes for the occasion. Yay!

The key to this road trip is Jaime’s Saturn sporting just over 100,000 miles, a tape deck that we can use those ancient tapes with a wire that hooks up to a Diskman (if you’re awesome), or (if you’re a lame-o) your mp3 player, chips, candy, and patience for the traffic on the turnpike.

8+ hours in the car is enough to make lots of people twitch, but I’m confident we’ll make it through! Hope everyone has a stellar weekend. I’ll have more doodles when i get back.

Be good! And remember, don’t do anything I wouldn’t do at least twice.
