thanks to a fellow crossfitter, i was inspired to create a “’stachetember” calendar this month. you may not know this, but i find mustaches hilarious and don a finger over my top lip every time i see one. in honor of that, this doodle was made. :)

again, i have to say – i have awesome coworkers! julie is a peach and i was thrilled to be able to work with her for a special gift for her sister’s 50th birthday! i had SO much to work with, making this doodle a ton of fun to work on. bear and ilya – two of the happiest dogs around -  are very pleased to hang out in the backyard with beth and her husband gregg while he grills up some delicious treats! beth and her niece love a good game of skip-bo, so including the game was a must. some great wine, a south african rugby shirt, and OF COURSE – what happy gal is without her life is good shirt?

i don’t know about you, but i can’t *believe* it’s already august. the kids go back to school in just 23 days (thank goodness!). this incredibly hot summer flew by!

as summer draws to a close, i’m hoping to get a few more peaceful moments at the pool sleeping soundly while floating back and forth in the cool water – wishful thinking, i imagine – but isn’t that the best kind?

i’m here in Michigan w/ my mom & dad, Jay & the family band along with Jay’s parents, sister Lauren, & niece Zoe! we have a full house & i’m enjoying being spoiled rotten. :)

my dearest & oldest friend, old in length of time, not age…anyway…

katie, the a fore mentioned dear, old friend asked if i would help create a design for her law firm’s annual bowling night. the brilliant theme the committee came up with was “Snakes on Lane”. i’m not sure anyone has actually seen that movie, but we’ve all heard of it. it was a pretty hysterical idea & not something i could turn down.

i wanted to give it a slightly retro look as i’ve always found bowling to seem slightly retro…nothing too detailed and just a quick line drawing seemed to work out great.

the best part about designing t-shirts for people is that often, i get to have one to wear! can’t wait to get this one – i will definitely wear it proudly.

while it’s been a little quiet here at quinnep.com, i have been doing some doodling outside of the monthly calendar. i’ve been crazy busy – moving out of DC & in w/ the family band (yay!), CrossFitting by butt off (or on, depending on how you look at increased strength…), & preparing for the annual pilgrimage across the Midwest.

things have been going wonderfully, and one of the highlights was being able to design a baby announcement for my cousin lauren! little ryker is too cute for words – and lauren wanted a baby announcement to match.

the card was printed on a semi-gloss stock at 5×7 – i LOVE the way they turned out, and i’m hopeful that i’ll get to create more of these!

as you may (or likely don’t) remember, last june i spent 2 amazing days with jaime windon in hampden at Honfest! she was a busy bee working as the official photographer of the event, capturing all of the silly moments, including the dunk tank! this year, she’s handed off that exciting duty to john waire! john is an über talented photog w/ a great eye…& he has some ridiculous cute kids! check out all of his stuff at http://johnwairephoto.com/blog.

through the magic of twitter, john & i started chatting & he asked me to put together a quick doodle of him for his honfest t-shirts. of course, i couldn’t turn down a chance to create a doodle, especially for such a fun event. john’s pretty clever w/ the tagline on these: “waire is my photographer…” LOVE IT!
